The Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Saskatoon Branch is pleased to welcome Director of the National Memorial Museum "Lonsky Street Prison" in Lviv, Ukraine Ruslan Zabily to Saskatoon on Wednesday 10 October, 2012 as part of a cross-Canada tour speaking on the current situation for Academic Freedoms and Human Rights in Ukraine.

Zabily is a leading archival and museumology expert in Ukraine and has testified about the "historians' case" before a Canadian Parliamentary delegation to Ukraine earlier this year.

In Sept. 2010, Zabily was arrested by the Ukrainian SBU and held on trumped-up charges of possessing state secrets. Later that fall he would meet with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper during Harper's visit to Ukraine.

Mr Zabily's presentation will take place at the Frances Morrison Public Library (311 23rd St E, Saskatoon) at 7 PM. Admission is free. Reception to follow.
